WHERE

is Liberia?

Liberia is an English-speaking country on the coast of West Africa.

WHY

help Liberia?

Liberia is consistently ranked among the poorest countries in the world. 92% of people live below the poverty line and 75% have no access to safe drinking water. The average household earns merely $1.50 CAD/day and lives off one bowl of rice every other day. 56% of children do not have the means to attend school.

Back-to-back civil wars from 1987 to 2003 decimated the country’s basic infrastructure and left most of the population without access to electricity, hospitals, schools, or clean drinking water—the lack of which is among the leading cause of diseases like malaria, typhoid, and cholera. A severe lack of access to medical care means that people in Liberia are dying from otherwise highly treatable illnesses.

WHAT

are we doing in Liberia?

We are relieving poverty through providing education, clean drinking water, sustainable food sources and sharing the Gospel in remote access villages and communities.

HOPE FOR LIBERIA has established a church / community centre along with an elementary school in the community of Careysburg. We are providing daily breakfast and lunch, uniforms, tuition and transportation for 275 students. We have provided 4 wells in communities that previously had contaminated water sources. We have an agricultural farm project in the works that will supply all the rice and produce for the students and surrounding communities. We are currently in the process of building an orphanage.

WHO

are we affiliated with?
