WHERE
is Liberia?
Liberia is an English-speaking country on the coast of West Africa.

WHY
help Liberia?
Liberia is consistently ranked among the poorest countries in the world. 92% of people live below the poverty line and 75% have no access to safe drinking water. The average household earns merely $1.50 CAD/day and lives off one bowl of rice every other day. 56% of children do not have the means to attend school.
Back-to-back civil wars from 1987 to 2003 decimated the country’s basic infrastructure and left most of the population without access to electricity, hospitals, schools, or clean drinking water—the lack of which is among the leading cause of diseases like malaria, typhoid, and cholera. A severe lack of access to medical care means that people in Liberia are dying from otherwise highly treatable illnesses.
WHAT
are we doing in Liberia?
We are relieving poverty through providing education, clean drinking water, sustainable food sources and sharing the Gospel in remote access villages and communities.
HOPE FOR LIBERIA has established a church / community centre along with an elementary school in the community of Careysburg. We are providing daily breakfast and lunch, uniforms, tuition and transportation for 275 students. We have provided 4 wells in communities that previously had contaminated water sources. We have an agricultural farm project in the works that will supply all the rice and produce for the students and surrounding communities. We are currently in the process of building an orphanage.
WHO
are we affiliated with?
Joe Amaral has been an Associate Global Worker with the PAOC since 2019 and has held credentials with the Western Ontario District since 1994.

WHEN
churches have us in, they say . . .
Hope for Liberia is a ministry that has really resonated with our church family. It’s evident that the work they do is not just alleviating poverty and bringing hope but transforming communities. Back in the Fall of 2021, we had the opportunity to invest into their new educational centre and our people really rallied around the vision. We love Joe and his heart for the nation of Liberia. It’s evident that he is “all in!”NATHAN ALBRECHT

Joe Amaral and Hope For Liberia have found a home here at Kingsview. Our congregation has really rallied around Joe’s vision and calling to the nation and people of Liberia. Our church has stood both in prayerful and financial support with HFL on more than one occasion. His strategy and model of sustainability has resonated with our people. We are delighted to have them as part of our annual missions giving.JOSH HAGEMAN

Joe Amaral spoke at our church and left an indelible imprint on our people. His message to ``get off our ash” and step into the call of God was arguably the prophetic word of the season. With enthusiasm, passion, and vision, Joe’s ministry touched our hearts and fuelled greater hunger for world missions through the power of the Holy Spirit.WILL SLOOS

As a church we’ve been supporting ``Hope for Liberia`` since last October (2021). I whole-heartedly recommend this missions ministry and the leadership of Pastor Joe Amaral. It was a real pleasure to have him and his wife Karen with us on Sunday, April 28th, 2022! It was so wonderful to hear about and see the phenomenal miracles that are happening in Liberia. They are happening as a result of Joe hearing and then obeying the voice of God. It is a real privilege and honour to partner with ``Hope for Liberia`` financially and with our prayers!HAROLD MORDEN
